This Quick Lesson is designed to help small business employees move files and
settings (without IT assistance) from an old PC to a new computer running
Microsoft® Windows Vista® Business edition.
How important is moving files and settings? Think about the critical data
files involved in your daily computing life. When you check your email, you
are accessing your mail program's data file (Microsoft Outlook or Windows
Mail, probably), which contains your co-workers' and business associates'
email addresses and mail that you have previously received. When you work in
your word processing program, spreadsheet program, or other application, you
often open data files you have previously saved. Without access to all those
files, you have to start from scratch. But by just transferring them to your
new PC, you can start being productive immediately.
This Quick Lesson shows you how to:
-
Understand and use Windows Easy Transfer, which is a simple all-in-one way
of transferring several types of data at once.
-
Copy email messages and addresses, internet favorites, Word documents and
other data files.
-
Move email accounts.
-
Transfer between Outlook Express and Windows Mail.
-
Move an application.
-
Transfer peripherals.
-
Download and install device drivers.
This class focuses on techniques and steps available in Windows Vista
Business.
You will begin by learning about Windows Easy Transfer.
